Zaina wasn’t a typical little girl. She didn’t attend ballet, tap or jazz dance classes. She preferred to build Lego moon bases and re-enact epic scenes from Star Wars with her large collection of figurines. So, as you can imagine, her interest in dance started a bit later than most. In fact, it didn’t really start until high school, when she successfully auditioned for one of Arvada Sr. High School’s co-ed show choirs, the Choraliers. From singing and dancing to show tunes and choral pieces, Zaina moved on to country/western dance in college, where she and her partner managed to walk away with a 1st place trophy for their innovative “Let the woman show ya how to lead” waltz routine.
In late 2000, on a dare, Zaina began taking
belly dance lessons with several of her friends. Her love of the dance began
then. She’s taken lessons from several local teachers, dabbled with an American
Tribal style troupe, performed at private dinners, Halloween and retirement
parties, and spent hours
When not dancing, Zaina enjoys spending time with her husband, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and gardening. |
